Trick Pony
I'm sure that one of these days my son will become really good at something valuable, but for now I'm just going to brag that he is a totally awesome stacker.

Splitsky
It was going to be so much fun. There was a online marketing and eBusiness fair at this lovely structure in Kista and The Swede and I were going to spend the day there. We were going to go to every booth, chat up every vendor, a husband-and-wife team of awesomeness and initiative collecting equally awesome ideas to improve our business. We would have had lunch together there, exchanging notes and shaping plans for our company's future. Then Jamie ralphed all over himself, indeed, all over everything last night. Since someone had to stay home with him today and it was important that both of us attended the fair, we decided to split the day. I took Jamie in the morning, The Swede stayed home with him in the afternoon. My half-day at the fair did yield some pretty awesome ideas, I admit, but I cannot deny it would have been much better with my copilot.

Working Late
Some nights we get home from the office, eat dinner, put Jambo to bed, change into our cozies... and participate in an online meeting with our colleagues in Cleveland. That's the Central European Time zone, baby!

Melodifestivalen Weekend 2013
This was Melodifestivalen Finale weekend and we did it up! On Friday night Papa Swede stayed home with Jamie and the rest of us went to the live dress rehearsal and while we were split up into four separate groups, we all had fantastic seats. My seat was so good that I even ended up on TV Saturday night during a segment that they had filmed during the dress rehearsal. See? That's me in blue doing a high clap as an artist takes the stage. Maybe I'll get discovered, maybe not. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Afterwards we went dancing at a gay club in the city and didn't get home until 4:00 am. This is not my style and I was wiped out and so thankful that Jamie was staying the night at his grandparents'. Then, on Saturday, we all crowded around the TV and watched my pick - a sweet, unassuming kid with a great song and an even better voice - win.

Hint Of Heat
I was home with Jamie again today and it was no nice that we stayed outside to play after running some errands. We didn't have our snow gear on because we had just been in the car and indoors and it turned out we didn't even need it. Jamie was in jeans and a jacket and I only had a blazer over my sweater and the sun kept us warm for the first time in a long time. I'm not getting my hopes up that winter is even close to over, but it was nice to be reminded of that feeling.

Unconscious Breakfast
Little Jambo is sick (though don't tell him; he's far too busy playing and running around like a madman) and his preschool has very strict rules about how much time has to pass between his last high temperature or bad tummy episode, so I could be home with him for a while. Today was day two and Jamie just played and I was SO BORED. There wasn't a thing that happened that was worth blogging about. Until, that is, The Swede came home and we talked about how boring my day had been. He commiserated, having stayed home with him last Friday. "The worst part," he said, "is that you think that you're going to have such a great time during his nap. Maybe watch a movie... sleep a little... but really all you end up doing is staring at the wall, coma toast."
P.S. I embarrass myself dozens, if not hundreds, of times a day with Swedish and my loving husband never says anything about it. The Swede's English is so good that moments like this one are a rarity and I'm obviously not as nice as he is.

The Biggest Loser
Spring is close enough that I'm starting to think about the fact that none of my warm-weather clothes could possibly still fit. I haven't dared to test this but the jiggle of a jelly roll when I brush my teeth tells me it's true. I'm obviously not the only one feeling this way as all of the adults in The Extended Family Swede decided over the weekend that we'd all better do something about it. So Sarianne, ever the competitor, suggested a six-week contest to see who could lose the biggest percentage of weight. It started today and I'm proud to say that I did awesome, eating my vegetables and egg whites and couscous, but holy cow was I hungry. And now it's the evening and I want some sort of dessert SO BAD but I'm not gonna! No sir! I'm in it to win it. But if the scale hasn't gone down at least eight pounds tomorrow morning, after all this suffering, I'm giving up.
