As If Summer Wasn't Taking Long Enough

My new shoes from Zara came today. I think we can all agree that they're the most magnificent sandals to grace, certainly my feet, and some may even say planet Earth. The only question, though, is how inappropriate is it really to wear sandals when there's still snow in the shade?

The tomato sauce face was cute. The gimme-the-iPhone face was not.

Some Time With My Son

It was AIK's premier match at the new arena so The Swede and his papa went to that yesterday while Jamie and his mama spent the afternoon together.
We shared a plate of kebab and french fries at the mall then headed to the toy store where Jamie played for over an hour. We somehow managed to walk out with only a plastic horse. A success for this mom, a failure for the store.
When we left the mall it was snowing but we were near the lakes in our old neighborhood and had packed some old cereal and bread in the back of the car so we decided to go visit the ducks anyway. Aside from a bit of drama vis-รก-vis birds walking on water while kids cannot, it was hilarious. We finished off our outing with a fika and some puddle jumping and me loving him so, so, so much.

New Music

Sorry for posting so many videos lately, but this song has been playing in my head constantly for the past seventy-two hours and I needed to introduce its magnificence to someone new. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Sweltering

Linda and I were chatting today and she told me that she had been talking to a relative in Atlanta the other day and he had mentioned that it was 20/68 degrees there. And here we are getting excited about being a couple of degrees above freezing, walking around in our light jackets, and wearing skirts with tights again. It's fine, though. I'm just glad we're on the upswing, especially after being surprised by DOUBLE DIGITS when I headed home today. That's 50 fahrenheit for the Yanks in the audience. Fifty whole degrees!

Crash Test Dummies

I've watched this about a thousand times today. The Segerstens are up at a ski resort this week, all expenses paid, and being filmed while driving around on ice tracks and off-roading in a Toyota Rav4. They were selected out of more than 5,500 families to participate in this awesome week of luxury food and lodging, skiing, and cool driving challenges, all of which Sarianne is blogging about. And are they not the cutest test drivers ever?! Look at the thumbs up! The air-steering! Look at Julia flying all over the place in the back seat! Love 'em! I mean, of course I hate them for having this experience, but I'll get past that.

The Sunny Side

Today was the last day of our long Easter weekend and even longer sick leave. Jamie is the picture of health (requisite, ever-present, runny preschool nose aside) and we were so into playing outside in the sunshine and melting snow. We weren't the only ones either, and immediately bumped into Jamie's best friends from school who also live on the sunny side of our street. They dug in the snow that's left with shovels, threw rocks, and pushed around baby doll strollers on our neighbor's deck until lunchtime. Jamie has been home sick for so long that I'm relieved they actually remembered him and I'm pretty excited for him to go back to school tomorrow and for things to get back to normal. Fingers crossed for no midnight fevers, k?

Guard Goose

When I got home from picking up dinner and gave The Swede the deets on the giant goose in front of Franco's, he teased me for getting so excited about something so silly. But he didn't see it. Sadly. And sadly, neither did you. But trust me, this bird was magnificent.
