Lucky Ducks
Erin and the boys and I met up in the city again today. She treated me to lunch at an Indian place near her job and we took the food to a park and ate on a bench. The babies got to eat too, of course, as well as a couple of ducks who happened to be in the right place at the right time, leftover naan-wise.

Cooped Up
The sun was shining for the first time in a week and I was finally feeling well and dying to get out of the house, but poor Jamie's tummy is still a little off so I didn't dare take him anywhere. We took a walk with The Swede this morning, but then spent the rest of the day indoors, playing on the floor, doing laundry, and cuddling on the couch watching a Simon and Garfunkel documentary. Even when he's not at his best, Jamie still makes cozy, adorable company.

Sick Leave
We haven't been feeling well over here and while we're all on the upswing, it was a rough weekend so I hope you'll excuse me for taking it easy on the blog. Hopefully we'll be up and running at a hundred percent again soon.

Grown Up Already
Something pretty darned exciting happened to me today. I got to have breakfast with Meryl, an old choir buddy from Marietta College. When we hugged each other upon my arrival at the café, we exclaimed, naturally, that it had been SO LONG and then calculated that we hadn't seen one another in seven whole years. That's seven years since I graduated college. Seven years that I've been a real adult. I guess I'd better start acting more mature. Actually skip the "more" and let's just start with "mature," period. Baby steps. At any rate, Meryl, who is in Sweden on vacation with her folks and sister, is as darling as ever and her parents were awesome so we had a great time catching up. I didn't want it to end, honestly, but I let them get to their sight-seeing because as thrilling as it surely was to see me, I am not the main event.

Sushi And The City
Jamie and I spent the afternoon with Erin and Ossian again today in the city. We met up at Central Station and ordered sushi at a counter there and then picked a table where I made the especially messy decision to let Jamie try an avocado roll. He loved it, of course, but I was finding rice within the folds of his clothes, in the stroller, and on my person for hours afterwards. Well worth it to see his excitement at trying something new and, of course, eating with his hands, which, as we all know, is THE BEST. I'm pretty sure after seeing the disaster that became our side of the table, though, Erin was resigned never to start Ossian on solids.

Supply Run
We're going to the country this weekend and we'll be staying in our own cabin for the first time. The Swede, Papa Swede and Sarianne worked hard getting it painted, laying a new wood floor and rewiring the electricity over the past couple of months and now it's finally time to move in. Cue a trip to Ikea for a few of the basics like a waste basket and a lamp and, oh, why not a rug and a cute mirror while I'm at it? Add a meatball lunch with my best little guy and that's what I call an afternoon.
