Daily Jamie
CLE
So I haven't posted in over a month, which is scandalous, I know, but part of the reason is that I was travelling for half of September. First, I left Sweden on September 6th and spent ten days in Cleveland. I was there for a conference, but spent the first few days of my time there visiting with family and friends.
I checked all the most crucial boxes: Mexican with Mom. Thrice.
There were long walks with the dogs...
...breakfast with my best gals...
...plus lots of quality time with this affectionate pair. Grandma took me to her favorite market to meet the Swedish cashier whose sisters live in the same Stockholm suburb as us! Mom and I did a lot of shopping, mostly at Target, natch, and mostly for toys for Jambo. We at so much good food and spent a lot of time just hanging around the house, chilling with Ray, and chatting non-stop. Even though it was only a few days, it felt long and luxurious, and yet still never long enough. The Swede just got back from his solo trip to Cleveland a few days ago and we're in agreement that we need to go back with Jambo ASAP.

Juuuuuuust Right
We had the nicest weekend, you guys. It's a rare occurrence that the weekend doesn't feel too short, but we packed so much into this one that it felt just right. It began with kräftor on Friday evening at the cabin. The Segerstens were there too, so the place was packed, but in a good way. There were more than enough kräftor for everyone to stuff themselves and the grown-ups sat around the table chatting into the wee hours.
The next day, Sarianne was full of energy and insisted we take the kids to the nearby lake and test out her new rubber boat. She took each of us out for a spin and then paddled across the lake and back by herself.
Meanwhile, Jamie and Julia tried to catch minnows with butterfly nets.
Sarianne ended our outing by pretending to fall off the dock, which the kids (and I, admittedly) loved. We left the cabin on Saturday evening so that we'd be home for Jamie's football practice in the morning.
On Sunday afternoon, Jambo and I met up with Axel and his mom to see Cars 3, which was quite good. Axel and I even shed tears. We went to the playground afterward and the boys ran around until it got too cold and windy for our light jackets. Summertime is over for sure, but the livin' is still easy.

Our Time On Öland
It's been over a week since we returned from Öland, a week during which I started back at work and The Swede and Jambo have enjoyed more summer break. Sarianne, Julia, Jamie and I drove to the island on a beautiful, sunny Sunday, making stops at a gorgeous church and McDonald's along the way.
When we arrived, however, it was raining cats and dogs, a grim start to what we had hoped would be a few days of island sun. The rain did let up eventually, though, and we were able to enjoy the camping site and lovely views.
The other significant thing we did was plan another trip to Öland next summer, we had such a good time!

The first night, we played minigolf and Julia creamed the rest of us. We also played a lot of games and cards in the cabin, played bocce and badminton in the yard, Julia taught herself how to do a cartwheel, and Sarianne and I enjoyed one or two glasses of champagne. The clouds even parted for a couple hours so that we could go swimming.
The second night we were there, we had gone to the camping site's grocery store to get ice cream, when who should walk in but The Swede! He was supposed to be working that week, but had taken the five-plus hour drive to surprise us! Jambo and I were overjoyed, obvs.
The next day, we drove up the coast to the northermost tip of the island, passing a medieval fort and dozens of old, wooden windmills along the way. We also stopped by a touristy sand beach and dipped our feet in the Baltic, and visited a petting zoo and camel farm where Julia was the only one brave enough to ride one. The other significant thing we did was plan another trip to Öland next summer, we had such a good time!
