Before we left the beach house, Kristen and Brandon tipped us off about an area called Natural Bridge in Virginia, which included wildlife safari that we would be passing on our drive toward Nashville. We reached it at just past nine this morning (after having left D.C. at six to beat rush hour traffic) and were some of the very first visitors of the day. In addition to the drive-through safari, they had a killer petting zoo with some super friendly critters and some less-friendly enclosed cats and monkeys and boars and whatnot.
We love zoos anyway, but any time we can get up close and personal with the wildlife is a major plus. I was totally smitten with the piglets and even Jamie was more enthusiastic than the last time we were at a petting zoo earlier this summer. Though he didn't really appreciate the goat that nibbled his big toe and I could have done without that elk snot smear on the side of the rental car.
